Hey everyone! Have you ever thought about what brush you should really be using on your dog? Well now I am going to tell you exactly what brushes you should use on your dog’s unique coat. Every breed has a specific coat type, knowing your dog’s coat type will allow you to tailor your dog’s brushing to optimise your brushing.
So how do you know what coat type your dog has? A quick google search: your dogs breed followed by “coat type” will give you an answer. Below I will list the coat types with some breed examples to give you an idea.
Wool Coat: (Poodle, Bichon, Bedlington)
Drop coat (Shihtzu, Lhasa Apso) AND Silk Coat: (Yorkshire terrier, Maltese)
Double Coat, Short Haired (Pug, Frenchie, Labrador, Rottweiler) AND Smooth Coat, (Lurcher, Manchester Terrier)
Double Coat, Long haired (German shepherd, Pomeranian, Golden Retriever)
