Bichon Frise
Coat Type
Curly / Thick
Recommended Grooming
The Bichon Frise should be Scissor Trimmed or Clipper Trimmed. The aim is to have the fur appear like a powder puff, clear of any noticeable lines or marks.
Notes
- Hair should be plucked from the ear canal, only as necessary
- Before bathing, remove any serious tangles or matts
- Remove any excess body hair and set pattern lines before bathing
- The ears reach to the nose. This proportion sets up the entire balance for the rest of the round head style. The jawline should be level with the ears
- Hand scissor top of the head. Head is broad and rounded with deep-set eyes
- The neck is long, arched and powerful. Leave coat a bit longer than on the body
- Legs are scissored full, straight and parallel, with the feet tight and rounded. The length of coat on the legs can range from 1 inch – 2 inches
- Hocks are well let down.
- Underline is neat, deep through chest and a slight rise to tuck up area
- Rump is tight and clean showing off a well angulated rear assembly with strong thighs
- The tail is left long and natural
- Finish with a light styling gel/mousse to add body to the leg coat, and control to the fall. Add shine with a fine mist of coat polish
